According to Siddha system of medicine there are three cardinal substances reiterated in many Tamil literature\u2019s for its purpose of rejuvenation and healing capability. The three cardinal of Siddha system are Amuri \u0b85\u0bae\u0bc1\u0bb0\u0bbf, Muppu \u0bae\u0bc1\u0baa\u0bcd\u0baa\u0bc1 and Guru \u0b95\u0bc1\u0bb0\u0bc1 \u0bae\u0bb0\u0bc1\u0ba8\u0bcd\u0ba4\u0bc1.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amuri is higher order Siddha medicine, which is essential in preparation of other cardinals like Muppu and other Guru marunthu.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amuri occupies the prime\u00a0position among the higher order siddha medicines like Muppu, Guru marunthu, Rasa vailthiam \u0bb0\u0b9a \u0bb5\u0bc8\u0ba4\u0bcd\u0ba4\u0bbf\u0baf\u0bae\u0bcd etc. <\/span><\/p>\n

Amuri is considered as elixir of life as it is an important preparation for rejuvenation therapy (kayakarpam or kaya kalpam \u0b95\u0bbe\u0baf \u0b95\u0bb1\u0bcd\u0baa\u0bae\u0bcd). \"amuriOwing to its importance, in Siddha medicine system, Amuri preparation methods are kept secret to a group of Siddhars and highly encrypted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amuri is an important medicine for the following reasons,<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Amuri is paramount in the preparations like Muppu and Guru. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can be used as vehicle or adjuvant therapy in all diseases. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Tones up the sthula (physical body) and shukshmasareeram (ether body \u2014Aavi) <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Amuridharanai is important for people doing dhyanam, yogam, gnanam, sarakalai, and vaasiyogam (meditation and breathing techniques). Amuri can be prepared suiting these requirements. Thus Vaidhya- Amuri (for therapeutic purpose), Vata-Amuri (in drug preparations), Yoga- Amuri and Karpa-Amuri (for rejuvenation) are distinctively spoken of. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • It is used in purification and preparation process of pashanams (minerals) and ulogams (metals). <\/span><\/li>\n
  • It is used to tone up the sapthadhathus (plasma, blood, muscle, adipose tissue, bones, marrow, and semen). <\/span><\/li>\n

    Generally Amuri in Siddha medicine system means urine of ass<\/span>,<\/span> ox (\u00a0<\/span>rishabaneer )<\/span><\/i>, \u00a0goat, cow and human beings, water from mist, deep sea water, white albumin of egg, mothers milk etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    So, different Siddhar School of thoughts has different definition, identification and preparation methods for Amuri.<\/span><\/p>\n

    According to Yugimuni school of thought, Siddhar Yugi muni says that Amuri is not urine but the sea water.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In the same way from the medical works of Siddhar Konganar and Bogar, it is implied that Amuri is nothing but raw urine or processed under certain circumstances like lifestyle. Some also denote that Amuri is the auto urine therapy.<\/span><\/p>\n

    According to Kandarnaadi vaakiyam, an unpublished Siddha manuscript, describes that Amuri is prepared from banana tree.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Also Thiruvalluvar School of thoughts describe that Amuri is related to lunar rays in the following lines.<\/span><\/p>\n
